There are at least 55 choirs and groups in Lincolnshire but less than 33 of these have an online presence. Lincolnshire Voices dotcom is a not for profit organisation that aims to help every group or choir in Lincolnshire develop or improve their on line presence and thereby promote their activities to a wider audience.

    Recent national television programmes such as X factor, while encouraging more people and particularly young people to start singing, have tended to focus more on solo performance rather than community singing.

   We at the Lincolnshire Voices website see great potential though for the future. There can be very few indeed young people who don't routinely use the internet for managing their social life and exploring opportunities for recreation as well as e-commerce, work and health.

   At present despite some very useful sites such as the top listings website for choirs http://www.choirs.org.uk/home.htm which provide comprehensive lists of choirs in Britain and internationally, and local websites such as http://www.music-link.org  , finding either a group by location or by genre can be a hit and miss affair and of course choirs that don't have a website will be overlooked.


   We hope eventually to provide a complete list of groups in this county so someone searching for a local group can find out what's around the corner.

    Secondly by giving a basic website free of charge to any group that requires it, interested performers can discover what groups are around that might offer the style of singing that interests them.

    We know that despite the sociable nature of singing in a group people who are interested in doing so might be shy of making the initial contact.
